-> please make sure to do the APA right because half of the mark is for the citation. im going to attach some examples.
and please use the textbook if its possible ( our textbook is in the reference section of the file that im uploading thanks.

In unit 2 of our course, we have read 5 argumentative texts. For your second essay, your job will be to perform a compare/contrast rhetorical analysis in which you choose two thematically related texts and illustrate their differing rhetorical approaches.

The thematic pairs of texts are as follows:

Mary Wollstonecraft and Michael Kimmel writing about the need to rethink gender norms/roles
James Baldwin and Martin Luther King Jr. writing about the need to address Americas racial inequalities
Henry David Thoreau and Martin Luther King Jr. writing about the necessity of disobeying unjust laws.
Prompt:
Perform a rhetorical analysis of your two selected texts, explicating and illustrating each authors rhetorical approach and emphasizing the similarities and differences between them.

Organization:
Introduction Paragraph
Begin by introducing your two selected authors and their texts and indicating the rhetorical situation surrounding each text. Give very brief context for each author/text, at least locating them historically in relation to one another and indicating the historical context in which they were written. Who is each authors intended audience? What, in brief, are they writing about? End your introduction with a thesis statement in which you concisely indicate the significant differences between the rhetorical approaches of each author. Your thesis should include an evaluation, but it does not need to choose a “winner.” See the examples below

Example Thesis statements
Sample thesis statement without a “winner”: While both authors make compelling arguments against racial segregation, Baldwin does so primarily through emotional appeal, while King appeals logically and with his credibility.

Sample thesis statement with a “winner”:  Even though Wollstonecraft’s logical approach makes her argument compelling, she does not make the appropriate emotional appeals to her audience, shaming them in a way that is unlikely to help her cause. Kimmel, on the other hand, through subtle appeals to fear and pity, along with a strong inductive approach, makes a more persuasive case.

Body of Essay
Develop the body of your essay with several paragraphs illustrating your thesis. Your body should follow a subject-by-subject or a point-by-point organization, or a hybrid of the two. The body of your essay should contain at least 4 quotations, two from each author, and analysis that clearly indicates the similarities and differences between the authors strategies. Whether you use a subject-by-subject or a point-by-point organization, your essay will most likely have 6 body paragraphs. This number is not a requirement, but a recommendation based on the two ways of organizing this essay that we covered in this module.Preview the document If you are using a hybrid organization, you may have a different number of paragraphs.

Conclusion
Conclude with a brief summary, followed by a so what statement. Tell your audience why a rhetorical analysis of your chosen authors should matter to them. How can this exercise help us to be more attentive/responsive to issues of gender/race/injustice? Again, we have not spent much time talking about conclusions, so don’t worry too much about them. Just take a stab at it.

Requirements

Introduction

You will write an essay about the company you identified as a traditional company in the creative industries, and explain what it would take for it to bridge a gap with the competitors. What should they do to become a Creative Business, and why should they do it? Chosen company: Cond Nast (Vogue magazine specifically)

Format should be as followed:
Grabber statement & context: grab your readers attention with a catchy start, and introduce background information about your company.
You can find more information on how to write this section here (Links to an external site.).

Thesis statement: based on your research introduce your idea, opinion or conclusion about your company.
You can find more information about how to write a thesis statement here (Links to an external site.).

Body

Write three / four paragraphs, each about a different topic. For example about innovations in Creative Businesses (Value Proposition [topic 1], Value Chain [topic 2], Markets [topic 3]) OR about the characteristics of Creative Business (CREATIVITY[topic 1], TECHNOLOGY [topic 2], HUMANITY [topic 3] BUSINESS [topic 4]). (These two examples are here to help you out, you’re free to do define your own topics as long as you’re able to describe the information requested in the rubric).

Introduce each paragraph with a topic sentence explaining what the paragraph is about and what is its central point (for example ‘the company needs to optimize their experiences’). After the topic sentence, you expand on the central point with evidence and examples. Include 2 to 3 supporting points per paragraph (for example ‘experience doesn’t engage all senses’).

You can read more about how to structure the body of your essay here (Links to an external site.).

Conclusion

In one sentence summarise what you have discussed.

Synthesise the points you made in the body of your text. You can learn more about how to connect the multiple ideas and bring them together to form an opinion here (Links to an external site.).

Explain the broader implications. What do you think will happen if the company doesn’t follow these innovations.

Write a closing statement.

You should refer to the lectures on Suicide along with your text for information to help you respond to these questions.

It should be approximately two and a half  to three pages double spaced.  You may use the first person “I” in this paper.

Imagine for a moment that a friend comes to you and says the following:    “I know you are studying abnormal psychology and I was wondering if you could help me. My roommate has been making some vague comments about wanting to die and once even said that she wanted to kill herself. I don’t know if this is a real problem and if I should take it seriously, or if she is just saying this stuff to blow off steam or get attention. And I don’t want to make it worse by asking about it. I don’t know what to do. What would you do?

Knowing what you do about suicide and its assessment, what should you advise your friend? In your response, make sure to address the following:

1) any myths or stereotypes about suicidal thoughts or talking about suicide that you are aware of;

2)  any risk or protective factors for suicide that might be important in understanding how “at risk” the person might be;

3) the kinds of questions, if any, that your friend should ask their roommate to assess the seriousness of the problem;

4) the steps they might want to take to protect their friend and themselves from harm if she is seriously considering suicide

Finally, in a separate paragraph, identify and provide either a phone number or email address for three resources on campus or in the local community where you might direct your friend for help.

Write a two to three (2-3) page paper in which you:

You have been given the opportunity to create a detailed job description for your job, a former job, or a job you would like to move into.

1) Based on what you know about a job analysis, employment laws, and safe working environments, include the following categories:
a.Job overview
b.Responsibilities and duties
c.Qualifications

(Dr. Vics Tips:  After reading and reviewing all the information from the LEARN area within the Week 3 tab all the chapters and video. You will want to also research the common and even legal portions of a typical job posting look at several job postings to determine these common and even legal portions. Really review the Job Overview, Responsibilities and Duties and, Qualifications areas of your example job postings to notice and learn these areas from a real-life perspective. Please do not plagiarize your job description, it needs to be something you wrote for the job you have selected to write about from your current or past experience.

2) Explain how you determined the duties and qualifications for the job and which laws were considered when creating the job description.

(Dr. Vics Tips:  please list elements of labor laws pertinent to the position such as, and for example: the FLSA, EEOA and Equal Pay Acts, etc.). Again, also, review all the information from the LEARN area within the Week 3 tab.

This assignment should be 23 pages and accurately reflect an actual job description in the workplace today.

NOTE: This assignment will be used as a basis for the remaining assignments in the course. Make sure you take this into consideration when doing the work for this assignment.

Your assignment must follow these formatting requirements:

Be typed, double spaced, using Times New Roman font (size 12), with one-inch margins on all sides; citations and references must follow APA or school-specific format. Check with your professor for any additional instructions.

Include a cover page containing the title of the assignment, the students name, the professors name, the course title, and the date. The cover page and the reference page are not included in the required assignment page length.

Concept to undertake your explanation:
Explain why the measurements of the temperature of permafrost at their deepest, their middle, and their surface provide an unambiguous [sign] that the climate is heating

Prompt
In Elizabeth Kolbert’s first chapter in Field Notes from a Catastrophe, (see attached an extract)  she introduces a significant feedback loops and natural phenomena that it is worth our while to be able to explain in our own words.
I’ll ask you to demonstrate your ability to absorb Kolbert’s explanation on the scientific phenomenon, and then to explain it in your own words.
This is not an exercise in summary or paraphrase. This is actually an exercise in comprehension, assimilation, and expertise. (Think of the saying in surgery residencies: See one, do one, teach one. Surgical students watch an operation, perform the operation, then  – to thoroughly consolidate their own knowledge! – they instruct another surgical resident in the procedure.)
I want you to imagine that you are a teacher. You will see how Kolbert has explained the phenomenon , then you will attempt to explain it to yourself, and then you will write your perfected “teachable” explanation – as if you were helping your favorite sibling, cousin, or friend to understand.
Explain the concepts in your own words. (Please do not use or paraphrase large portions of Kolberts or anyone elses – text. This assignment looks at your ability to absorb an idea or concept and to explain it according to your best understanding.)

For your Research Paper you will research a topic of your choice, and based upon your research develop a thesis and argument on that topic.  For this paper you must use 6-10 secondary sources to develop and support your argument.  These sources should all be good (academic, peer-reviewed, verifiable) sources.  You may use books, periodical articles, or websites as secondary sources, provided they fit the good criteria.  These secondary sources should be related to your topic/argument as directly as possible, but dont be afraid to cross fields where appropriate.

Your paper must be 3500-4500 words in length, use 12 point font in Times New Roman, have 1 inch margins, have page numbers, should be double-spaced, and have an alphabetized Works Cited page.

Once you have submitted your paper, in the Comments area of the submission, ask one specific question that you have about your writing.

Grading Criteria:

Content – The submission appropriately responds to the paper prompt. Further, the argument presented in the submission is relevant to the topic and reflects college-level critical thinking.

Further, the submission should correctly use MLA formatting and documentation including: in-text citation, use of block quote format, works cited page (where appropriate), heading, font, margins, and indentation.

Organization – The submission has effective, logical transitions between supporting paragraphs. The paragraphs are controlled by and support/develop the thesis statement. The paragraphs should be arranged with an effective logical strategy. The submission includes an effective introduction with a clear thesis and a concluding paragraph which clearly relates the authors ideas/content/argument and effectively wraps up the writers main point.

Evidence – The submission has salient details, credible facts, data from peer reviewed and scholarly research, and properly cited quotations from subject experts or otherwise reliable sources. There are clear connections between the writers evidence and claims. Each of the body paragraphs develop distinct points, each of which support meaningfully advances the authors argument. The submission has enough supportive evidence to answer reasonable and important questions from the reader.

Critical Perspective – The submission reflects college-level critical thinking and analysis. The submission goes beyond in-class discussion to provide further insight on the topic. The submission effectively integrates theory and critical material to provide depth of analysis.

This assignment provides you an opportunity to become an expert on a particular country featured in the Seager Atlas.  As an expert, you will teach us about the status of women in your chosen country by preparing a power point slide show.

Instructions
After reviewing the digital repositories in the reading and resource section of this module, answer the questions below in 2-3 paragraphs each. To develop your responses, combine your experience deploying search terms to locate the three primary sources in this module with your own reflections on the questions posed. While reviewing these resources, think about how useful these repositories would be to you if you were a historian seeking to write a biography on the scientist Leo Szilard. As you explore each repository, try to locate the following primary sources that you might consult to write a chapter about Szilard’s campaign against dropping the atomic bomb. Each primary source is located in only one of the above repositories. Regardless of whether or not you were able to find all three sources, complete all question prompts before you submit your responses. It is especially helpful for your instructor to know what search terms you did use if you weren’t able to find the primary sources so that they can provide you with the feedback you need to develop effective search terms.

Describe your overall experience of locating these primary sources. Was it challenging or straightforward? Did you learn anything interesting along the way?
Were you able to locate an interview with Tom Evans, a close friend of President Truman’s, who interacted with scientists who were trying to reach Truman with their campaign against the use of the atomic bomb? Share your search terms and a link to the primary source.
Were you able to locate a petition against the use of the atomic bomb circulated by Szilard directed toward President Truman? Share your search terms and a link to the primary source.
Were you able to locate an interview with Lilli Hornig, a scientist who signed Szilard’s petition against the use of the atomic bomb? Share your search terms and a link to the primary source.
To complete this assignment, review the Primary Source Hunt Short Response Guidelines and Rubric document.
