Reading:

Immanuel Kant, extracts from Groundwork (in response to “Hume’s guillotine”) November 5John Stuart Mill, extracts from Utilitarianism (also from On Liberty, and The Subjugation of Women)

The assignment question:

The debate over the morality of abortion has been waged between the proponents of a woman’s right to choose and those people who are against all abortion procedures.  Each side can give reasons to justify or support their particular viewpoint.
Now imagine the Kantian is engaged in this debate.  Based on what we’ve said about Kant’s view of morality, what do you think he would say about the morality of abortion?  What do you think Mill (or any Utilitarian) would say?  Explain how each one would justify his position.

I’ve attached 9 readings in total and I’d like you to use 2 readings at least in the paper.
I also uploaded the lecture pdf file so I want you to go through what topic we cover in class. Although you don’t need to mention lecture but, the topic should be related to the lecture.

Please check the attached file “Instruction”. all details available.

Each week we review a topic from previous leadership-related studies. This week we examine conflict and negotiation.

While the two terms and ideas are not the same, they both involve interactions with people who have different interests.

Read the two articles you will find in Week 6 Module, Media and Readings.

Discussion Board prompt:

Conflict suggests that there may be winners and losers.

Negotiation suggests that both parties can achieve something they want.

In your opinion, what are 3-5 of the most significant strategies, or approaches, that conflict management and negotiation have in common?

Are they included in one or more of the articles for this week? Please explain these strategies or approaches in your own words, to show your understanding. Use citations to identify sources for ideas or quotes that you use.

OVERVIEW:
Throughout the course thus far, we have read scholars, writers, and memoirs that attempted to typify a whole generation, and with the film The Social Network, as a class we have argued that David Fincher and Aaron Sorkins loosely fact-based parable encompasses our current culture. Though these forms of writing have their weaknesses because it is often reductive to condense a whole culture into a single thesis, they are nonetheless prevalent and often provide some insight into cultural shifts that are difficult to recognize as they are happening.
