I’m looking for a five paragraph essay for a sophomore English class. The theme is based on symbolism in the book, The Lord of the Flies. 

Here’s the symbolism Essay Prompt: 
Symbols are people, places, or things that stand for themselves, but that also represent a much broader idea.  William Golding uses a number of symbols to show how a group of young boys turn into savages.  Choose three of the symbols that Golding uses and write a five-paragraph essay in which you discuss how Golding uses the symbols to trace the boys descent into savagery.  Each body paragraph must be supported with three concrete details (quotations) from the story. 

The quotes must be integrated into the writing.  I’m attaching a sample that the instructor provided but this is way too advanced for my son’s type of writing.  He writes like a typical teenage boy with very little words.  I’m only providing the sample to help with the quote integration.

*The Literature Review should have three parts: introduction, main body and conclusion.

*The structure of Literature review should not be chronological. It should be Thematic or Theoretical.

*Include at least 20 high quality citations, and at least 50% of them should be peer-reviewed academic references.

It is important to have a good introduction that clearly tells the reader what the literature review will be about, and its central themes or organizational pattern. Point out overall trends in what has been published about the topic, and explain the criteria you have used to analyze and compare the literature you reviewed.

The literature review is a critical look at the existing research which is related your research study.  It is important for you to read and analyze everything that could be related to your research questions. 

After completing a literature review you should be able to identify the prominent authors and texts that are related to your topic, and area of study.  The literature review may include both the research (empirical or analytical) on your topic, and theoretical works related to your topic.

The literature review is used as the basis for your Introductions brief description of the background of your study, to identify research trends or areas of interest that are relevant to your study, and to find potential gaps in the existing body of knowledge.

There is no one way to conduct a literature review, but this section should be done in a systematic fashion to capture, evaluate and summarize the literature. Creswell (2013) has a 7 step plan to follow that could be used.

Goal: Analyze the behavior of an organization at the four zoom-levels.

Premise:  You enter or parachute into an organization and describe the behavior using the concepts from the course.  This analytical paper explains how you observe and orient in this new environment and understand the organizations behavior. 

In addition to above Writing Assignments section and the relevant Course Policies

Address in your paper the deeper currents of culture as well as how processes, systems and mission drive behaviors.  In addition to specifically incorporating a wide variety of OB distinctions from the course, the paper should also address distinctions of leadership, motivation, communications, and ethics.  The paper must analyze (not merely describe) the organizations behavior from each zoom level: individual, group, organization, and external. 

Other than the general format guidelines in this syllabus, how you format this paper is up to you.  You might be effective in first-person or third-person.  You must think deeply about this topic and what you have learned during the course to creatively accomplish the goal. 

When writing about the individual zoom level, do not pick yourself as a subject.  When writing about the group zoom level, choose one group or a selection or representational groups.   

This is a final paper and should draw upon and synthesize concepts, distinctions, and major themes from the entire course.  You may use an organization you have experience with or research one where you would like to work.  Most students choose a previous co-op.  Ideally, from reading this paper, I should have the experience of being there with you and gain a valuable understanding of this organizations behavior.  The exercise of writing this paper will hopefully create a template you can use for analyzing future organizations, avoiding organizational pitfalls, and more quickly make a valuable contribution.
