Identify at least 5 patterns in the types of species, distributions, habitats, threats? Can you make hypotheses about the main drivers of species loss in Africa from these patterns? These 5 patterns should be specific: Are the threats different for primates, large carnivores, birds, amphibians, and reptiles? Are the threats different for species in dry/ arid areas than species in humid areas? Mountains vs flat areas? For species with small ranges vs large ranges?

Case studies are an important learning strategy in business classes as they provide an opportunity for you to critically analyze events that have taken place in real-life businesses. This develops your critical thinking and research skills as you research the competition and industry in which your business resides with an end goal of formulating a recommendation for the challenges faced by the company.
Read the “Franklin Electronics” case study on pages 545546 of your textbook. As you complete the analysis, address the topics below.
Explain the earned value measurement system and whether you believe that Franklin Electronics truly understands it.
Analyze the cost projections completed by Franklin Electronics. Reconstruct the cost projections toward the compilation of a realistic project budget. Include a theoretical discussion around the steps involved in the budget that you built.
Create a project management schedule that would be more effective than the one proposed in the case. Use scheduling techniques learned in this class to date. Include an assessment of why you selected this scheduling technique instead of others.
Evaluate sources of project risk, and develop strategies that would decrease the impact of these risks.
In formatting your case analysis, do not use the question-and-answer format; instead, use an essay format with subheadings. Your APA-formatted case study should be a minimum of two full pages in length (not counting the title and reference pages). You are required to use a minimum of three academic sources that are no more than 5 years old

Imagine that our country is under threat of an imminent nuclear attack. You must make the important decision of who to let into the nearest fall-out shelter. There are 12 people vying to get in, but you can choose only five. Your choices include:

a 40-yr-old violinist who is a suspected narcotics pusher
a 60-yr-old architect
a 26-yr-old lawyer who will only go in if he can bring his wife
the lawyer’s 24-yr-old wife who has just gotten out of a mental hospital
a 70-yr-old rabbi
a 34-yr-old retired prostitute who was so successful that she has been living on her annuities for five years
a 12-yr-old girl with a below-average IQ
a male high school student who needs a wheelchair to get around
a 20-yr-old gang member
a 23-yr-old female Catholic graduate student who speaks publicly on the virtues of chastity
a 28-yr-old male physicist who will only come into the shelter if he can bring his gun
a 19-yr. old college student who has just come out of the closet
Determine which five you will choose for the fallout shelter.

Once you have made your five selections, write up an explanation for your choices. Why did you pick those five? And why not the others? What thoughts and/or feelings did you have about this type of decision?

Think about the following social psychology concepts and/or other concepts from your unit readings:

Attitudes and social influence (e.g. norms, systematic vs. heuristic persuasion)
Attributions
Group categorization
Stereotypes
Prejudice (positive and negative)
Discrimination
Survival: Frustration-aggression, reproductive selectivity, and/or evolution
Correspondence bias
Reciprocal altruism
Cognitive dissonance

Which concept(s) was most relevant to your selections, and why? Define the concept(s) and explain how it applies. Cite your readings using APA-formatted in-text citations, and include a reference page. Also, include at least one way that this assignment applies to your real-life and might cause you to change how you interact with other people in your life. Your paper should be at least 2 pages, double-spaced, with an APA-formatted reference page at the end.

Write a 4-5 page essay addressing the following statement: In every age society projects its concerns with structure and process unto its children this may be one definition of childhood.”

Please discuss this statement using the materials covered in class: Postman, Allen, Hanawalt, and Cunningham.

The essay should 4-5 pages long, double-spaced 12 pt. font. Bibliography at the end.

Show me what you have learned so far in class.

Please Read the Attached Reading (Xunzi, (RCCP, focus on pg. 1-17; 31 – 51)  then do the following:

QUESTIONS, REFLECTIONS, & COMMENTS (QRCS)
Please make a post offering at least two thoughtful and
substantive questions, reflections, or comments (QRCs) inspired by your engagement with the material below.

— At least one of the QRCs must explicitly identify a passage( quote a passage and then respond to it)  from the reading attached that you found intriguing, confusing, enlightening, etc. to lift up for consideration. You should quote the passage in full in your post along with a clear citation so others can easily find it in the text, and briefly explain your reasons for highlighting this passage this can come in the form of substantive questions about, interpretations of, or challenges to the ideas expressed in the passage.

For the second QRC, you may choose to lift up another passage, but you are not
required to do so. Instead you may choose to offer a more general question about the
ideas under consideration, a reaction to the podcast lecture, an argument you are trying
to work out, or a connection you have made, or events in the world. In other words, each paper should have two clearly distinct QRCs, at least one of which lifts up a passage from the text.

Also, I attached(The screenshot below) an example of what the post you are gonna make should look like.

Topic :
Ancient Astronomy – How has someone, or a group of people, contributed to our understanding of the Universe in an important and/or unique way?  Why were their contributions important to our understanding of the Universe and/or to society in general?  This could focus on scientific, cultural, or other aspects.

The essay must be no more than 1,000 words with 1 inch margins, 12 point Times New Roman font (three pages maximum). The word limit includes citations of sources.

Need to research topic in reliable sources, and of course, need to cite sources of information.

The Research Essay asks that you formally explore an issue raised in the texts we are studying; some research topics connected to the issues we will discuss over the course of the semester include Parker Palmers ideas about education, civil rights, civil disobedience and wellness; Wangari Maathais ideas about the relationship between environmental activism and human rights; and Joe Carters ideas about the power of music, specifically the African-American spirituals (or sorrow songs).

The writing you produce in response to this assignment will draw upon the texts we have studied as well as the research you complete independently in your Research Assignments and Critical Reflections. Your final Research Essay will:

develop a clearly articulated thesis statement (argument);
incorporate a logically organized structure;
demonstrate the composition skills you have been developing;
integrate supporting quotations and in-text citations from a variety of sources;
and showcase your knowledge of MLA style.
To this end, we will all participate in an introductory Library Information Session led by a BCC Librarian who will walk you through how to access the Librarys resources, discuss the many resources available to you, clarify the importance of incorporating peer-reviewed resources in your academic research, and offer strategies on how to manage the tremendous amount of information available to you.

Question: Should the US have gotten involved in the Vietnam War?

Format: Write the answer from two different perspectives: One answering the question yes; the other answering no. Each answer needs to have sufficient evidence to support the answer. By evidence, you will need to use primary sources; those are sources from the actual time period.

List of Primary Sources: (If you discover other sources, that is great. Just get my approval to make sure they will work.)

Writing Assignment Grading Criteria

The main objective for this writing assignment is for you to answer a historical question and explore its implications for future developments in American history. This assignment is worth 100 points. The following is a guideline on grading rubric I will use to asses your papers.

You must observe the format guidelines: Papers should be 5 FULL double-spaced  pages with page margins no more than 1.25 and font, Times New Roman, no larger than 12 pt. Any infraction will result in an automatic deduction of 5 points or a half-letter grade.

You can also lose 5 points if you do not meet the requirement for using a reliable outside source. You must use quotation marks properly and footnote your outside source in order to receive the full 5 points.

You must also address all parts of the prompt. Make sure that you fully develop your ideas and focus on communicating your thought process as best you can. The content, organization, and development of your argument are the most important aspects of this assignment. The majority of your grade is going to hinge on your ability to communicate through this paper your interpretation of the historical prompt. 80 points

Punctuation and grammar are important in communicating effectively through writing. 10 points of your grade will be dedicated to this aspect of writing. You can lose a point for each major punctuation or grammar error. In addition you can also be penalized for repeated minor mechanical errors. Mechanical error can result from over-reliance on the Word grammar and spell check. I recommend you print your paper and read a hard copy aloud. You will catch many errors just because they dont sound right when you say them aloud.

            Major Mechanical Errors                                        Minor Mechanical Errors

            sentence fragment                                                      inappropriate passive voice

            faulty subject/verb agreement                                    misspellings

            incorrect verb tense                                                    incorrect word choice

            illogical verb shift                                                      clumsy or awkward sentences

            word ending errors (s, ed, ing)                                    point of view errors
