Case Study: A 65-year-old woman was just been diagnosed with Stage 3 non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma. She was informed of this diagnosis in her primary care physician’s office. She leaves her physician’s office and goes home to review all of her tests and lab results with her family. She goes home and logs into her PHR (Personal health record). She is only able to pull up a portion of her test results. She calls her physician’s office with this concern. The office staff discussed that she had part of her lab work completed at a lab not connected to the organization, part was completed at the emergency room, and part was completed in the lab that is part of the doctor’s office organization.

As you review this scenario, reflect and answer these questions for this discussion.

-What are the pros and cons of the situation in the case study?
-What safeguards are included in patient portals and PHRs to help patients and healthcare professionals ensure safety?
-Do you agree or disagree with the way that a patient obtains Personal Health Records (PHRs)?
-What are challenges for patients that do not have access to all of the PHRs? Remember, only portions of the EHRs are typically included in the PHRs.

Please integrate evidence using at least one scholarly source.

The three questions are

1. Discuss the Mazda turnaround. What was it an example of and why is it important. (300 words)

2. What was the century of humiliation and why is it important. (300 words)

3. Compare and contrast the political institutions of japan with the political institutions of China. (400 words)

Now that you have discussed the details of the case, engage your intellectual empathy.  Which member of the surviving family did you identify with the most? Imagine that you are that person.  Really take a few minutes to imagine what it would be like to be quarantined, how it would affect your work and personal life, what your grief would be like, and what it would be like to be treated with fear and bias by others.

2.  Consider the experience of Kaci Hickox, RN and Public Health Professional. Do you think she responded appropriately to the call for mandatory quarantine? Why or why not?

3.  Based on these reflections, how will you as a public health professional interact with members of a vulnerable population?

4.  Based on these reflections, what ethical obligations do you have as public health professionals when communicating with members of the media about public health crises?

.  It would be 12-15 pages (double spaced) and could take one of several approaches of which two prominent examples would be 1) a critical analysis of a products/services or companys marketing strategy this will involve a reasonably detailed look at the target market(s) and each of the 4Ps (product, price, place and promotion).  2) an analysis of the historical evolution of marketing strategy for a product or service over time if you can find details of how the target market(s) and the 4Ps for the particular product or service have changed over an extended period of two decades or more, you would look at how the changes in marketing strategy over time can be understood in the light of changes in the marketing environment over the same time period.

Given that the assignment could take different approaches as discussed in the previous paragraph, no specified format is provided for the paper.  Also not provided is any set number of references/citations that is expected I understand that some other courses provide minimum numbers of citations expected!  Of course, any external (borrowed) material that is used in the paper should be cited (any citation format APA etc. is fine) in the interest of good academic practice.

If groups would like to discuss with me either the choice of topic for the paper or a draft outline at some stage, they are welcome to do so.  Also, if for whatever compelling (!) reason, some students do not want to work in  groups and would like to work individually on the project assignment, they are welcome to do so but groups are preferred!

The project should be submitted by December 1, 2020,  though most of the work should be completed before mid-November which is the date after which we will start having brief presentations/discussion of the projects in class.

Hope this helps.

With this assignment, you will pick an illusion and write a 2-3 page paper about it. You should include the following information:

1. Describe the illusion. Does it have a name and what is the illusion? In describing it, you should explain what you perceive and what it is in reality (i.e. you perceive movement of when in reality it is a stationary image, etc.). What is interesting about the illusion and how does it connect to sensation and perception (i.e. is it a visual illusion, an auditory illusion, etc.)?

2. Explain how/why the illusion works. Is it more related to properties of the sense organ (i.e. the eye, etc.) or more to brain interpretation? Does it rely on context or perceptual tricks or something else? Be specific in explaining what is happening to cause the illusion

3. State whether or not you think the illusion would have cultural effects, as in the above examples. Why or why not? Is the illusion a learned illusion, meaning is experience necessary for it to develop? How is the illusion influenced by context? (There is no right answer to this, but use information from the examples to make a hypothesis)

I would like it to be about the McGurk Effect
