Please read the letter attached by a prisoner sharing his personal experience and viewpoint on mental health.

Your assignment is to craft a genuine response. What are your thoughts and feelings regarding the scenario? What could be done differently? How can you make an impact? How can nursing make an impact on prison health reform? The response must be at least 1 page in order to receive full credit.
(I am a nursing student so you would have to answer the questions as if you were a nurse and how could you as a nurse make an impact.)

Billy Sunday once said, I have gained the world, but lost my family. As you have learned from the module videos, Billy Sunday was a successful evangelist who left a legacy of family failure. He had three sons and a daughter. His daughter died early in her life, and all three of his sons died before they were 40. His three sons had cumulatively been married nine times. William Carey translated the Bible into approximately 37 languages; however, his wife went crazy and tried to kill him twice. Adoniram Judson lost two wives and several children on the mission field.

What is the difference between Carey and Judson?  Is a righteous mission justified at any cost? Do you trust God to take care of the things you neglect when you pursue His will? Should there be a balance between ministry and family?

I attached an article with my view of family and ministry.

In the second half of the 20th century, racial tensions rose in the United States as African Americans began to challenge unjust laws that supported discrimination and segregation. This movement found its leader in the patient and inspiring minister, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Explore how Kings deep-seated commitment to nonviolence contributed to the expansion of social justice, economic inequality, and racial injustice in the United States, particularly for African Americans.  Choose one of the two Dr. King’s speeches posted in this folder and write a 7-10 page position paper, excluding the title and reference pages, using the theories explored in the text. Utilize at least 3 peer reviewed articles to support your position. In your essay draw on the following concepts from your readings socioeconomic status, education and class, race and class, gender and class, globalization, meritocracy, class mobility, class consciousness, poverty, work ethic, functionalist and conflict views on class, inequality, etc.

The paper should be formated using APA style, 12 pt New Times Roman font, double spaced.

Madisons Federalist #10 has become the most renowned of the Federalist Papers and a leading statement of American political theory. In 5-6 double-spaced pages, critically examine this essay. (And by critically I mean thoughtfully/analytically, not necessarily negatively). Be sure to assess Madison’s views on human nature, “factions” in a free society (and their remedy), and his argument about the best type of republican government. From what you have read, how do Madison’s ideas about the “good republic” compare to those of his fellow Framers?

What specific philosophies, decisions, policies, or laws from the past helped shape education in todays world? Be specific. You may organize your paper by timeline or by an influencer.     Edward Thorndike

One of the most important facets of police work is knowing when it is legal to stop a person and whether he or she can be searched. The US Supreme Court case of Terry vs Ohio determined an officer can stop a person and conduct a pat down under a very specific set of circumstances. For this research paper, please research this landmark case and explain when an officer is allowed to stop a person and conduct a pat down. The difference in this case is the suspects had not yet committed a crime and the officer did not have a warrant to search them. Explain why the Court permitted this. How are pat downs affected by the exclusionary rule? If you need something else to write about to fill the two-page requirement, also explain the US Supreme Court case that governs vehicle searches and what factors allow an officer to search a car. This paper must be two pages in length and in APA format. Cite your sources on a references page and be sure to use in-text citations for each source.

Preparing a Strategic Career Plan

Graduation and certification are the beginning of your career as an NP. Whether you are looking for that dream job or you have decided to open your own practice as an independent NP, you need a plan to get there. Before the Web and social media, job hunting was relatively simple. Job hunters perused the classifieds, made cold calls, and many times just showed up with a resume in hand. There has been a dramatic change in the last decade in how people find and get jobs, and NPs are no exception. For those seeking employment now, there is a wealth of resources available from mega employment websites to specialty blogs. Finding a job as an NP may not be a big challenge, but landing the position that you have passionately prepared for and pursued is going to take some work. A well-crafted cover letter and resume may be necessary items, but it may not be enough to get you exactly where you want to be. With so many opportunities and career trajectories available to NP’s today, you need to focus and get serious about what you want to do and where you want to do it.

Directions

In this Assignment, you will develop your own strategic career plan for starting your new career as an NP. There are many steps that need to be accomplished. Use the following guidelines to design your career plan. You do not need to include references. This is a plan that you may layout how you wish. Be creative, and really think about what you desire as a nurse practitioner. As everyone will have different goals, there are no right or wrong answers in this plan.

It is time to take inventory and ask yourself some questions. What is your career vision? Be specific and honest. Where do you want to work? What are your short term and long term goals (give timeline)? What are the most important things you are looking for? Discuss your desires for salary, vacation, sick leave, CME allowance, medical benefits, retirement, etc. Perhaps you have a niche such as managing chronic diseases in patients over 65 years old.
Next, describe your ideal work situation. Is it a rural clinic or a major trauma center? Who is your target patient population? Do you have a passion for a particular population or specialty? What schedule do you want? What are the priorities in your career right now? Where do you see your career in five years?
How do you plan on researching opportunities (whether looking for employment or an independent practice site)? List several methods such as job fairs, the Web, and medical employment agencies.
Networking is essential for todays healthcare provider. Discuss your networking ideas. What Internet resources might you use to network and connect with other healthcare providers?
How will you prepare for the interview? What specific steps will you take?
Imagine you are starting your own practice. What population will it serve? How will you market your practice? What personnel will you need to hire? How will you obtain funding? Will you be open extended hours to meet the needs of working patients? Will you be the sole provider, or will you hire other providers?

Assignment 5 (with rubric) Develop a writing lesson using a mentor text. Make sure to choose a teaching point that matches a state standard for your grade level. What specific lines of the text will you use to teach your objective? How will you model the expectations for your students?

Cumulative Project (with rubric) Conduct some independent research on how parents can promote literacy outside the classroom. Create a 1 page guide to share with parents on ways they can promote literacy at home. Make this guide as specific to your grade level as possible. Include reading and writing activities that are parent friendly along with links to appropriate online learning activities. Consider suggestions for building literacy in homes where English is not the primary language.

Assignment 4 (with rubric) Develop a plan for launching independent reading specific to your grade level. What procedure lessons will you teach? How will you scaffold students in order to build stamina over time? What is your plan for students that may struggle with staying on task during independent reading? How many minutes of reading each day do you want your students to build up to over time? How many weeks do you anticipate this will take? Which state standards are addressed by providing students uninterrupted time to read independently each day? Create a list of open-ended questions you can use with any book to start a reading conference. If possible, talk with other teachers to ask how they make time for independent reading and how they resolve pitfalls.

Relationships often change based on what occurs in peoples lives.  In what ways does the relationship between Mr. and Mrs. White change as a result of the influence of the monkeys paw? Write a text-dependent analysis essay in which you identify how the relationship changes from the beginning of the story until the end of it.  Use evidence from the passage to support your response.
