Watch and take notes on the following films, they are the films to be used for the assignment:

Julius Caesar (1908)
The Robe (1953)
The Colossus of Rhodes (1961)
Ben-Hur (2016)

For each film, prepare a brief commentary of 350 words, drawing on what you have learned throughout the course about depictions of the ancient world in film. Your commentaries should be original and arise wholly from your own observations about the films, their approaches to the ancient world, and their place within the history of film-making. They should demonstrate your own engaged criticism no additional research is required or permitted.

please focus on the historical aspect on the film as well as critical

Commentaries should speak to elements of genre and cinematic era, as well as highlight what you think the films director is communicating through his presentation of classical antiquity and the films portrayal of historical or historically inspired characters. Good commentaries will be concise and cogently written, reflecting awareness of the analytical techniques, critical approaches, and themes modelled in lectures throughout the course. You will be graded on both the quality of ideas present in your assessment and the quality and precision of your written work.

use these other films assigned in the course to compare the films( these are not the main films assigned only to be used to compare):

Ex Machina (2015)
Cabiria (1914)
The Fall of the Roman Empire (1964)
Troy (2004), Alexander (2004)
Submit your four commentaries as a single, clearly laid out document in 12 point, Times New Roman, double-spaced type

For this paper, I want you to watch three films, of your choice, from three time periods. First, watch a film made in the 1950s or 1960s, taking note of gender relations and the ways in which gender is portrayed. Then watch a film from the 1970s/1980s/1990s and again take note of gender relations and the ways in gender is portrayed. Make note of shifts from the two period. Lastly, I would like you to watch a film from 2010 to present day and make note of gender relations, and gender portrayal. Consider how those have changed over time. Look for subtle messages about gender in each. How is gender portrayed? What gender stereotypes is it reinforcing? How does it reinforce the gender binary? How does it portray gendered bodies? How does this impact the way we understand gender ourselves? How are these issues intersecting with other social characteristics, such as race and socioeconomic status?  How have they influenced our understanding of gender over time? What is the role of media in this understanding of gender?

Your analysis should refer back to course materials and theoretical concepts from the course. Additionally, your paper needs to be clearly organized. Do not just simply answer the questions listed above. Those are just a starting point for your analysis. You should not use any outside sources, including film analysis articles or summaries about the films. These summaries and analyses should be your own! Watch the films and take notes. As you watch, make note of any connections to the texts. You should quote your texts (Sissy, textbook, or online materials) at least 4 times in the paper. All quotes need a page number and author (i.e., for your textbook, you would add Wade & Ferree, p.23 for your reader Tobia, p.22 and articles from the course would be author, p.xx)

For EXTRA CREDIT to replace your lowest quiz score, please write a 250+ word cyborgian speculative fabulation (a particular form of science fiction) concerning your final paper topic. Through speculative fabulation, Haraway encourages us to consider a future for those who don’t typically get written about (in particular, marginalized individuals and communities) and to write with “tentacular thinking”, a way of acknowledging the many relations of earth, animal, human and technology. In your short piece, describe a scene where the technology you have chosen for your final paper intersects with a particular individual and describe an achievement, a competition, an arrest, a trial, a celebration, a realization that gives us some kind of empowerment narrative or warning for the future. This exercise will be critical for informing “why is this important” for your final paper.

In two to four typed and double-spaced pages, apply the ten common propaganda techniques in the Canvas packet on propaganda to two of the stories in the Nazi comic book The Poisonous Mushroom.  Analyze both the pictures and assertions in the stories “How to Identify a Jew” and “When You See a Cross, Remember the Gruesome Act of Murder Committed by the Jews on Golgotha.”  Find and explain as many examples as you can of the story using the propaganda techniques. Here is a simple way of organizing this essay:
In your introductory paragraph, simply start by identifying the comic book and its origin to give it context:  “In 1938, Adolf Hitler’s propaganda minister, Joseph Goebbelspublished a comic book for children called “The Poisonous Mushroom” whose purpose was…”  Then, state the main ideas that the stories are trying to get the children to believe.  Finally, state the particular propaganda techniques that the writer used to convince the children to believe these ideas.

Do the stories one at a time.  Begin each body paragraph by focusing on a main idea that the writer asserts:”The writer intends to convince children that Jews are easy to identify by their physical features.  He says, for example, that…  He is using the technique of transfer because…”

Be as thorough as possible in showing and explaining what the propagandist is doing. In the conclusion, simply restate your main points.

Here are four individuals telling you their stories of how they became unemployed. In a multi-paragraph essay, apply the theories of unemployment to explain the type of unemployment that each of these individuals is facing and explain which of these individuals qualifies for unemployment benefits:

Two months ago, Marcelle used to work full time in an automobile manufacturing firm. “The factory where I used to work has closed because our market contracted so much, and so I was laid off. This is happening to people all over the country-all you see in the papers is that economic growth has fallen and incomes across the country have fallen. I have been looking very hard for a new job, but have had no luck yet.”

Until last week, Dominic used to work full time as a hair-dresser in downtown Cincinnati. “I decided to quit my job, because I want to move to New York City.”

Until last month, Francine worked part time at a ski resort. “Well, it is summer now, and so the resort is closed. I will apply again in the winter when the snow is back. I am not interested in working until then.”

Two months ago, Beauvoir had been working full time as a secretary. “I was a good typist, but I don’t know how to use a computer. My boss wanted to upgrade the office to computers, and so I was replaced by someone who is computer-savvy. I have been looking for another job, but it appears that I need to learn some computer skills.”

Develop a response that includes examples and evidence to support your ideas, and which clearly communicates the required message to your audience. Organize your response in a clear and logical manner as appropriate for the genre of writing. Use well-structured sentences, audience-appropriate language, and correct conventions of standard American English.

Distinguish between the four kinds of organizational change that can be promoted with information technology.  Explain how you have been impacted by one of these kinds of organizational change.  What were the benefits and disadvantages from your perspective?  Describe how, in your personal experience, information technology was used to promote the change.  If you have not experienced organizational change previously, research an example of how one of the four kinds of organizational change was promoted with information technology in a company or organization.

1. Comment on how emotional intelligence impacts leadership abilities (does it help? hurt?  what does it impact?). Make sure you refer to information from the video or chapter on Emotional Intelligence in your response.

2. Comment on what parts of your communication style do you think you are good at and what do you feel you could improve on. Why? how would it help?
