Research Paper:
The research paper may be on any topic related to business ethics. There are two important words in that description. First, the topic must be business-related. If you want to write on healthcare, then the topic must be about the business of healthcare. If you are interested in sports, then the topic must be on the business of sports. The second point in the description is the focus on ethics. You must analyze the topic through the lens of ethical reasoning.
The paper should be at least 15 typed pages (double-spaced, Times New Roman 12-point font, and 1-inch margins on all sides). A separate Works Cited page should be included to identify the sources for your citations. All sources listed in the Works Cited should be cited in the body of the paper, and any source cited in the body of the paper must be included in the Works Cited.
Your research paper should contain at least 15 scholarly resources (excluding the textbook) and must be properly cited using APA.
Avoid plagiarism in your paper.
Your research paper should follow this general format:
    Overview of the Topic
Research and discussion supporting one side or viewpoint.
Research and discussion supporting the opposing side or viewpoint.
Discussion and analysis of the different sides or viewpoints.
Your scholarly conclusion of the issue and the reasoning behind your conclusion.
Please DO NOT make the following mistakes on your paper:
1.    Write a high-school research paper on the topic assigned.  For example, dont write a paper that tells me what diversity is. If you select diversity as a topic, dig into the academic and professional literature regarding diversity and discuss the ethical implications of the subject. Your paper should argue the underlying issues of the topic.
2.    Avoid long quotes.  Graduate students understand that their job is to synthesize the work of others into coherent ideas.
3.    Avoid simply paraphrasing articles.  As graduate students, you may cite anothers idea, but your work must be original and creative.
4.    Under no circumstances can you ever hand in a paper that you have previously submitted in another class for credit.
5.    Plagiarism in any form is grounds for failure in the class, not just on the paper.

This assignment provides you with an opportunity to reflect on the sociocultural issues and implications involved with the concept of information literacy.

Throughout the course, you have applied the concept of information literacy to your academic work. For this unit, please expand your scope and in a 2-3 page reflective essay, share your thoughts on how you see information literacy being applied in our society.

Possible prompts include: are some groups more informationally literate than others? If so, why? Is this related to the concept of information privilege? If so, can you explain how? How does society benefit from a population that is informationally literate? How does a society suffer from a population that is not? Do you believe our society values information literacy? Why do you feel as you do? Should we care about whether a society possesses information literacy skills?

You may use the personal pronoun I in this essay. If you use secondary sources, be sure to provide a citation such as (Smith, 2002, p. 82) and the corresponding reference in APA style.

Your assignment submission should be a Word document that fully adheres to the instructions listed above.

For the discussion this week, you will discuss the steps of the research process. Specifically, youll be sharing how your process went as you established a topic and then completed the research for your annotated bibliography.

Provide a detailed initial post that responds to at least two of the four prompts noted below:

Considering the rhetorical situation: Describe your audience and your purpose. What was the setting? What did you need to consider at the very start of the process?
Identifying Research questions: Explain how you arrived at your thesis statement by creating initial questions on a topic. How did these musings thoughts or reflections and fuzzy questions develop into a viable research path? What makes an effective research question? How can a solid research question be transformed into a thesis?
Using strategic searches to conduct academic research: Explain to the reader what one must do to establish productive online searches using academic databases in the Herzing library. What is a Boolean operator? How can we use limiters to yield better results? What is a database? Which search terms and Herzing Library databases did you use for your search? In your post, provide the steps of your process.
Critically evaluate sources: How do we determine if a source is suitable? What is CRAAP? As you sort through your sources, what did you do to determine if they were credible or not? What did you look for?
Finally, address the following: What challenges have you overcome? What resources are available to you or what habits can you adopt to help you overcome these hurdles? What advice would you give other students?

Please be sure to validate your opinions and ideas with citations and references in APA format.

Your assignment for this forum is to view Hany Abu-Assad’s 2005 film  “Paradise Now”

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZcESoSGU1gg

Begin your essay with analyzing the relationship of Said and Khaled in regard to doubt and free will, and secondly explicate how the character of Suha serves as a lever of intervention to these characters and within the film itself.  In this regard, what is the film suggesting about gender dynamics? Further, fully explore the dichotomies of victim/oppressor, collaborator/martyr, and sacrifice/revenge and explain how this film questions the meaning of these terms/ideas and disempowers them.  In this manner, what is this film trying to humanize in its treatment of these themes and how is this suggestive of non-violence?  Lastly, briefly ruminate on how this film allows us to reconsider Grossman’s reflections on language and meaning in regard to individual/group dynamics.

The structure of power in the international system is almost always too ambiguous or uncertain to explain why war starts, how it proceeds, and why it ends.  We gain more leverage over understanding state behavior and international outcomes by looking exclusively within states themselves, at their leaders and/or institutional structure.  Do you agree?  Why or why not?  Discuss with extensive reference to course material.

Watch the PBS NOVA film (53 minutes) Vaccines: Calling the Shots (Connexions vers un site externe.)

ASK
After you view the film, interview three (3) parents with a child under the age of 5, from different families.  The parents you interview can be relatives, neighbors, co-workers, etc.  Just be sure they currently have a child under the age of 5 years old.  You can conduct the interviews in person, by phone or by email.  Please inform them that you are not judging them by asking these questions and that their decisions as a parent are highly regarded.  You are simply interested their process decision making process as it relates to immunizing their child.

Ask the questions provided below and record or take notes on their answers.

Interview Questions

Did you conduct any research about immunizations before your child was first vaccinated? (Research can include speaking to other parents or medical professionals, searching online, reading articles, etc)
Have you followed the recommended immunization schedule provided by your pediatrician or have you modified the schedule for your child?  If you modified your schedule, please explain how and why.
What vaccine information source do you trust the most?
What is your overall feeling about vaccines?
Do you have any advice for new parents before they have their child vaccinated?
WRITE
This is an essay type of paper. The answers you receive from your interviews need to be woven into a narrative. Use the steps below to help you craft your paper.

Using the information you gathered from the interviews, craft an introduction giving some basic information about the parents you interviewed (please use only first names when referring to parents and children). Please note the age of the parents you spoke with, where they live, how many children do they have (are they a first time parent?) and any other interesting information you feel is worth mentioning.
Write a summary of the answers provided, noting differences and similarities.  Devote at least one paragraph to summarize the answers to EACH question.  Discuss one question at a time and provide all the parents input on that question in one paragraph=1 paragraph for each question.  Include some discussion that compares and contrasts the answers to that question in each paragraph.
At the conclusion of your summary, share your reaction to all the responses you received.  Were there any surprises?  Did you expect the answers that you received?  Do you share any of the same views as the parents you interviewed or do your views differ?  How did you handle this situation for your children OR how do you think you will handle this situation if/when you have children?
