Read the Ributan Engineering II Case Study.

1.    State one idea for adding value using a Lean method, such as standard work, poka-yoke, visual controls, and/or 5S.  The intent of this idea is to reduce frustration, confusion, and waiting for customers.
2.    Create one innovative idea for adding additional value by modifying, creating, or expanding the current service.  Incorporate the random word approach to generate ideas.  Use with the following random words: rival, buck, searching, poem, lawyer, and quiet.  Indicate which word triggered your idea.

Identify an issue/concept/theory that triggered your curiosity during this module and write a two-part essay which:
-1 Presents the issue/concept/theory in question.
-2 Shows how that issue/concept/theory is applicable in real life.

Your essay is expected to contain accurate, relevant, original content and be well written. You will be graded on the relevance and quality of your essay within the context of the course topic.
The essay should be seven-pages long and should be divided into two equal parts.
The first part should present a theoretical concept or idea covered in the relevant module. You may pick any idea/concept/issue covered in the previous six weeks. You will need to present the idea/concept/issue in detail for approximately half of the length of the essay. You will also need to substantiate your idea/concept/issue by citing different authors relevant to your chosen issue/concept or theory.

The second part should link your chosen idea/concept/issue to real life. For example, if you decide to explore the concept of authoritarianism as seen on Week 13 (Power and Politics) or the concept of Marxism as seen on week 3 (Foundations of the Social Sciences), you will need to show how your concept is relevant today by talking about an authoritarian country of your choice or new forms of Marxist practice developed in some fringe communities in North America. Here too, you may use outside sources.

Suggested Length: approximately 2 double-spaced pages per song. This should be
written as a traditional paper.
Font: Times New Roman, 12 pt.
Margins: 1 inch on all sides of page.
Subheadings: Please use subheadings.

You will select TWO songs (or albums if this fits better) from different genres. Each song
should illustrate a different crime theory or perspective. Songs need to be accessible to me to
listen to, preferably via Youtube or also via Apple Music, Spotify, or Sound Cloud. For each
song, please include the artist, song title, album title (if applicable), and direct link.
The song should have a direct connection to a criminology theory we have discussed in the
course.Social Control Theory, gender-based theories of crime,Feminist Criminology, subculture theories and labeling theory, Anomie Theory and Strain Theory.

The songs should, thus, either include 1) descriptions of criminal or deviant behavior
(starting it, engaging in it, stopping it, etc.) OR 2) provide a perspective about the justice system
(can be supporting it, against it, discussing reform, etc.).
For each song, you will examine how it connects to one (or more) of the theoretical concepts we
have discussed so far this semester. Your paper should address the following information:
1. Summary of the theory (approx. 1-2 paragraphs)
a. Describe the crime theory relevant to the song, including the main components it
proposed. *THIS MUST BE IN YOUR OWN WORDS* – do not copy from the
text or other sources
b. You should not discuss the song in this section simply define and describe the
theory.
c. This section helps to set up your response to the next section of the assignment
2. Summarize the theoretical connections (approx. 2-3 paragraphs)
a. How does the song connect to theoretical concepts we have discussed in class?
b. Explain in detail, with examples from the song, how it illustrates the theory.
c. You can include links to the lyrics as well or quote them directly in the text.
3. Policy Implications (approx. 1-2 paragraphs)
a. What could be done to prevent the criminal or deviant behavior portrayed in the
song?
b. How could the justice system be changed based on the perspective of the song?

NOTE: You can (and likely will have to) use music/songs that have expletives, R-rated language, or derogatory words/statements. You are also welcome to censor any lyrics as you see fit. A goal of this assignment is to analyze this messaging in the context of our theories and perspectives towards criminology and criminal justice.

Using your project description which i attached below, you will identify credible sources relevant and useful in understanding your research topic which I attached all the sources for you to use below. To successfully complete this assignment, you will:

Read the article and take notes about the following:
What are the main ideas?
What questions or comments do you have about the authors credibility or their point of view?
What key points or quotes from the article might you include in your research paper?
Will this source be useful for your paper? Why or why not?
Write your Annotated Bibliography:
Cite each source in APA format. For more information on APA format visit: https://owl.purdue.edu/owl/research_and_citation/apa_style/apa_formatting_and_style_guide/general_format.html (Links to an external site.)
Summarize the main ideas in each source in your own words (3-5 sentences)
Evaluate each source (what do you think about the sources? Is the author credible? Are the arguments effective? Did the author(s) use evidence to support their claims? What are the strengths and/or weaknesses?  (2-3 sentences)
Describe how you will use the source in your research paper.

You can modify this assignment to address candidate positions based on background research, rather than using the debate, in this case focus on the second set of questions. The due date has been extended to allow for this research. The goal of this discussion is to gain a better understanding of candidate positions in the areas of information and media policy and begin to assess the role of these issues in upcoming election. Answer the following questions:

In what ways, and to what extent were issues related media, communication or information policies addressed in this debate? For example, did any candidates speak to issues such as: misinformation/fake news, cyber warfare, foreign (digital) interference in the election, vulnerability of e-voting machines, data security, privacy, surveillance, net neutrality, broadband/internet access, job displacement, AI, social media regulation, online hate speech (etc.)?
In three to five paragraphs please answer any combination of the questions below. This means you may focus on one or two of the questions below, or briefly speak to all three questions.

In your opinion, did either candidates have a particularly extreme or radical positions related to media and information policy? In other words, are any of the candidates calling for solutions that would dramatically change the status quo, or approaches that might interfere with, or weaken our Constitutional Freedoms? Identify which candidate(s) and summarize their argument.
In your opinion, were any candidates particularly persuasive in their argument? In other words, did one or two candidates have strong arguments, backed by evidence, and/or well thought out policy solutions to address the issue? Describe the problem and solution as articulated by candidate, and explain why you found their position persuasive.
In your opinion, did any candidate seem especially misguided, unaware or dismissive of any of these issues. Identify which candidate(s) and outline the reason(s) you found their answers or positions unconvincing.

Please write an 800 word essay on one of the following topics. You MUST use proper in-text citations (if you do not know what this means it is your responsibility to learn how to do so. The writing center and other resources are available to you). This is a different prompt than what is in the Syllabus but I think this will allow students to do research and build their own understanding of a key issue utilizing some of the critical thinking skills we’ve been developing.
The US spends more on its military than the next 10 or so nations combined, what does the US government and its people get in return? Is this a good use of tax dollars?

Prompt
Think about the various theories that Elizabeth Kolbert supplies in her brief discussion in Chapter 11 of “cli-psy” or climate psychology to account for the “gap between the science of global warming and the public’s response.”

She mentions three theories for this gap:

1-the public’s continuing confusion about what scientists are really saying,
2-the confusion between the science and one’s identity or tribal commitment, and
3-the psychological strategies that people use to avoid painful subjects.
Instructions
Read Chapter 11 of Field Notes from a Catastrophe.

Choose ONE of the three theories that Kolbert discusses in Chapter 11, and compare it with ideas that Rich has explored in his article.

Write a paragraph in which you discuss the ways in which the theory your chose from Field Notes is echoed and/or distorted in the content of “Losing Earth.”

OR

Discuss the ways in which you have witnessed the theory being played out among your acquaintances.

Losing The Earth by Nathaniel Rich: https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2018/08/01/magazine/climate-change-losing-earth.html
