Part 2- students will review summary analyses submissions, made in part 1, and offer a rebuttal to a classmate’s current event analysis, which opposes their own.  MOST IMPORTANTLY,  BE CONSTRUCTIVE in your critiques; and RATIONAL in your explanation of your perspective.  Rebuttals must be 5-10 sentences in length.

This is the student’s work to offer the rebuttal on.
Texas food banks is a nonprofitable company that distributes food and other essentials to help families achieve stability including nutrition, education, health management, job training, and help in securing state-funded assistance. But most importantly, they distribute fresh produce, meat and nonperishables, vegetables, and canned goods to millions of families in need across the state. Recently, we found out that the food banks could be short millions of pounds of food this year due to budget cuts. Out of all times, this is a time of extraordinary needs for many families. However, they may have to be turned away this year. This service is a sigh of relief for many families that are in extreme need. The program is losing 19 million pounds of produce that will more than likely go to waste rather than nourishing a hungry family during a time of insecurity. Governor Greg Abbott has requested agencies to trim their budget by 5%, which led the Texas Department of Agriculture to cut their grant funding all to balance the statewide budget. The Texas Agriculture Commissioner (Sid Miller) has asked the governor about using the states leftover $2 billion in CARES Act funding to pay for the grants, but no response has been given. I think this is sick. I understand there is a budget, etc. but out of all times during this pandemic families are in need. Knowing that there IS A WAY is what bothers me the most. The governor or the state legislature is not paying much attention or seeing this issue as a big deal of the people. That is quite selfish to me and it angers me, because you never know if that family that needs this will ever be you one day. This a year where funds should be increasing not depleting.  I pray for change, for everyone to matter, and for unity.

The Vice President of operations recently promoted you to branch manager and moved you to a new branch office where the morale among employees is low and performance is poor. Of the five employees, Amani has the most tenure with six years. Amani seems to have the lowest morale and is not motivated to do the work, although he is quite capable of doing it successfully. Bassmah has been with the company for four years but has not mastered the new software and is performing at a low level even three months after being trained on the software. Hadeel also has four years with the company and Rawan has two years. Hadeel and Rawan are responsible for client contact, and while in the past they worked well together on reaching out to clients, now there are conflicts and low morale. Samah has been with the company just three months and does not understand what is expected on the job and is contemplating leaving the company.

Approach the case as the branch manager well versed in situational leadership.

Explain situational leadership to your Vice President.
Determine the readiness level of each employee and explain your reasoning.
Determine the appropriate leader behavior to match the employee level and explain your reasoning.
Develop a plan of action as to how you will lead each person to higher performance and morale and explain it to your Vice President.
Directions:

Write an essay that includes an introduction paragraph, the essays body, and a conclusion paragraph to address the assignments guide questions. Do not address the questions using a question-and-answer format.
Your well-written paper should meet the following requirements:

Be 3-5 pages in length, which does not include the title and reference pages, which are never a part of the content minimum requirements.
APA style guidelines.
Support your submission with course material concepts, principles, and theories from the textbook and at least two current, scholarly, peer-reviewed journal articles. Current articles are those published in the last five years.
It is strongly encouraged that you submit all assignments to the Turnitin Originality Check prior to submitting it to your instructor for grading. If you are unsure how to submit an assignment to the Originality Check tool, review the Turnitin Originality CheckStudent Guide for step-by-step instructions.
In advance of submission, review the grading rubric to see how you will be graded for this assignment.

Read the designated page numbers found in NEA’s An Educator’s Guide to the “Four Cs.” Preview the document. At the end of each description, there are specific examples of how the Cs are integrated into various subject matter and grade levels.
Critical Thinking and Problem Solving, pp. 8-11
Communication, pp. 13-16
Collaboration, pp. 19-21
Creativity and Innovation, pp. 24-26

Describe a lesson you experienced that involved at least 2 of the Cs from the above list.  Identify and describe the Cs in the lesson. If you can’t think of a lesson that involved any of the Cs, describe a lesson you experienced recently and include how you would have integrated two of the Cs from the above list (no more than half a page; refer to the examples at the end of each description from the reading for ideas).

Part 3: Data Section

In this Portfolio Project, you are creating a sociological research proposal, imagining a scenario where you are completing this proposal with students in a college-level Introduction to Sociology class.

You will be creating pieces or components for this final Portfolio Project throughout SOC101, in the Portfolio Milestones in Weeks 3, 4, 5, and 6. This week, Week 8,  you will construct new pieces for the final proposal as well as compile all the components into a final research proposal.

The pieces, then, of the research proposal are as follows: (Please organize your final research proposal submission in this order.)

A 1- to 2-page introduction. (Created in Portfolio Milestone, Module 6.)
A 1- to 2-page study description of the specifics of your study including a) the description of your participants (if any), b) the location of the study, c) the duration of the study, and d) the research approach you would use (qualitative or quantitative, or mixed methods). (Created in Module 8.)
A 1/2- to 1-page data section describing the data you expect to gather from your research. (Created in Module 8.)
An appendix containing the 2- to 3-page annotated bibliography (created in Module 4) and the 2- to 3-page literature review (created in module 5). (Appendix is created in Module 8.)
Note that in Week 8, you create the following pieces:

The specifics of your study (1-2 pages), including a description of your participants (if any), the location of the study, the duration of the study, and the research approach you would use (qualitative, quantitative, or mixed methods as discussed in the Module 1 interactive lecture).
The data you expect to gather from your research (1/2-1 page).

In the later part of the 20th century, fast-food industries rose to prominence across the United States, including the McDonald’s hamburger chain. As part of fast-food production came the standardization of quality and processes. This, coupled with the repetition of tasks employees performed, delivered a uniformed taste and customer experience across all fast-food franchises. Customers expected every McDonalds to offer up the same recipe and environment.

This standardization began to infiltrate other organizations. That is, efficiency and impersonality were valued over technical competence in these highly structured and hierarchical franchises. This led sociologists to identify that America was succumbing to McDonaldization as a way of life.

For this assignment, you are asked to research the term McDonaldization using a search engine like Google. Choose a minimum of four sources. Feel free to use a variety of sources including social media, scholarly writings, online shopping, food delivery services, and other facets of a culture where McDonaldization is evident. The idea here is to see how McDonaldization is understood in the world.
Based on your findings from these various sources, summarize the outcomes of McDonaldization on society. How has bureaucracy served to work in some ways, but not in others?

After reading Modules 3-5 and reading Case 2 on globalization in the age of Trump, what are your thoughts?

Please, justify your response, and feel free to cite outside sources (read the rubric in the syllabus).
