Submit: Annotated Bibliography Assignment

Instructions:

Before beginning the outline of your research paper, which you will do in Module 5, you will complete an annotated bibliography. The purpose of an annotated bibliography is to compile research sources in one location and provide you with quick access to the information contained in each source.

Content/Subject: Your annotated bibliography will consist of the sources that you have deemed relevant to your topic.  While you may encounter sources that are not relevant or do not fit the scope of your project while researching, for the purposes of this assignment, you will only include the ones that you find useful and relevant.

For this assignment, you will be writing evaluative annotations rather than summative annotations. In a summative evaluation, the writer simply summarizes the text. In an evaluative annotation, the writer critically evaluates the source for relevance. The writer also evaluates for quantity of valid information the source has for the writers project.

Cite the source in proper MLA format. The citations are in alphabetical order by author just as in an MLA Works Cited page.
Follow with a brief annotation that summarizes the source (approx. 2-3 sentences). Do not copy and paste the abstract. All of the annotations should be in your own words.
In 3-5 sentences, evaluate the source for relevancy to your paper, compare it to other sources you have found, explain the authors expertise and any bias they might have, identify the strengths and weaknesses of the source, and identify any relevant conclusions the author made.
Constraints:  The annotated bibliography is a rigid genre.  Your citations must adhere to MLA format.  This will be one of the central components of the grade for this assignment.  Failure to follow MLA format exactly will harm your grade.

The annotations for each source should follow an academic style.  This means that you must construct, with elevated and sophisticated language, correct grammatical sentences.

To view an example of an annotated bibliography, look through the Columbia College MLA Citation Guide (8th Edition).

Specific guidelines to follow when completing this assignment are:

6 sources located using the library databases.
Adherence to MLA format for all citations.
Sources in alphabetical order according to author.
Thoughtful and complete annotations of 100-150 words.
Correct grammar, punctuation, and spelling.

Identify the tort theories of liability and categories of damages that the family might pursue in this case, and discuss each of them, making sure to identify the elements of your causes of action, and claim for damages.

Are there any legal defenses that Disney is able to use in order to mitigate or diminish any possible award of damages?  Likewise, are there any legal doctrines that make it easier for the family to obtain money damages against Disney.

In providing your initial statement, please remember that you are an advocate for either the family and Disney, and must state whether or not your client will be successful.    In your rebuttal to your partner, you must refute why the opposing party is not deserving of victory.

Post your statement here for grading, and discussion.  Then find your partner’s original post and respond it it (minimum of two posts).  Your submission  will be graded based on the Decide the Dispute Participation Rubric.

Question:

By what means Islam spread to Africa? How did Islam shape/impact African culture and how did African culture in turn, shape Islam and Islamic practices? [Online]

Read the below passage and generate your own answer the question above:
The online narrative, Islam and Indigenous African Culture described Islam as “highly influential” to Africa and its indigenous cultures. Originally, Africa was dominated by the Christian religion, Christianity, for centuries; until it disappeared in the Islamic expansion. Making its first presence in Africa in 641 A.D., it begins to spread quickly throughout North Africa, West Africa, and the coast of East Africa through trade, migration, and teachings. However, in Africa, they refrained from Arabization and encouraged the interaction of Muslims and non-Muslims to enhance creativity. As their commonalities brought them together, their differences shaped Africa’s political systems, social and artistic forms. Essentially, the understanding of both parties creates the enriched culture of Muslims and non-Muslims in Africa.
The spread of Islam throughout Africa was affected through trade and migration. It was stated, “In Africa, Islam has taken unique forms as the product of many different conversation experiences. In West Africa, much of this conversion before the 18th century occurred throughout the interaction with the Islamized Berber traders, who controlled the Trans-Saharan trade routes”. Also, many Muslim princes traveled to West Africa during the 19th century and settled. In this case, through migration, Islam’s religion spread through every part of Africa because Muslims were traveling, trading, and drop at different parts of Africa. The spread of Islam brought drastic changes in Africa due to the interaction between Muslims and non-Muslims. Some of these changes were political, social, and artistic forms in Africa. Without the spread of Islam, there are many things Africa would have been missing. The spread of Islam was a symbol of fertility and purity. While Islam benefited Africa in many ways, Africa also helped Islam because it enriched Islamic artistic expression and many more.
Islam first arrived in Africa by way of Egypt as it was invaded by the army of Amr-ibn al-As in 641 A.D., it then spread to other parts of Africa through trans-Saharan trade which was mostly controlled by Berber peoples. This means that Africans were not only exchanging goods, they were also exchanging culture and religion. Moreover, the spread of Islam throughout Africa promoted a new type of scholarship where, even in the areas where Islam wasn’t widely practiced, the greatest scholars and leaders were Muslim. Islam also became embedded into the architecture with the building of mosques throughout the continent, many of which also incorporated native African elements to the religious structure.

Write an essay of 1,000-1,250 words (4-5 pages, double-spaced) using all of the numbered points below. You will not need any outside sources for this essay.

Provide a summary of Brave New Worlds New London society through Chapter 6. Briefly describe and discuss the role of each of the major characters that has been introduced (Lenina, Bernard, Helmholtz). What are the major values/beliefs present in this society (in other words, what are the social rules that these people live by)?
Remember that summaries are brief. Work and revise to make your summary short but complete and clear. Choose which ideas/elements you think are the most important, and emphasize those.
Discuss one primary source of conflict in the novel. What elements of the book are creating tension? (It could be external or internal.) What questions does the author, Aldous Huxley, seem to want us readers to be asking ourselves as we read?
Do you have any predictions for these characters? Do you foresee a happy ending? Why/why not? (Base your answers on what you know of the characters already. Use evidence from the text!)

QUESTIONS, REFLECTIONS, & COMMENTS (QRCS)
Please make a post offering at least two thoughtful and
substantive questions, reflections, or comments (QRCs) inspired by your engagement with the material below.

— At least one of the QRCs must explicitly identify a passage( quote a passage and then respond to it)  from the reading attached that you found intriguing, confusing, enlightening, etc. to lift up for consideration. You should quote the passage in full in your post along with a clear citation so others can easily find it in the text, and briefly explain your reasons for highlighting this passage this can come in the form of substantive questions about, interpretations of, or challenges to the ideas expressed in the passage.

For the second QRC, you may choose to lift up another passage, but you are not
required to do so. Instead you may choose to offer a more general question about the
ideas under consideration, a reaction to the podcast lecture, an argument you are trying
to work out, or a connection you have made, or events in the world. In other words, each paper should have two clearly distinct QRCs, at least one of which lifts up a passage from the text.

Also, I attached(The screenshot below) an example of what the post you are gonna make should look like.
