As you progress through the modules of the course, you are learning how the United States Intelligence Community operates as it pertains to the 5-Disciplines of Intelligence Collection. For this assignment, you will have an opportunity to deal with a real national intelligence collection issue, the Iranian nations capabilities to acquire and utilize a nuclear weapon, as well as their ability to fund and utilize terrorist groups to attack U.S. interests and allies.

You will assume the role of a DNI analyst and you will be tasked to conduct a 3-page open source analysis of the Iranian threat. You will then identify at least 3 Intelligence gaps that resulted from your OSINT analysis. Next, you will assemble an intelligence collection plan in which you appropriately task the members of the United States Intelligence Community. The plan will include at least six intelligence collection requirements, an agency assignment for each requirement, and a justification for assigning that agency.

I have included a sample collection requirement. You are welcome to use the intelligence gap and intelligence requirement used here in your paper, along with two other gaps and five other intelligence collection requirements you create. There is no page limit for this assignment but you’re probably looking around 7-8 pages of analysis. 3 pages for the OSINT (Open Source Intelligence) overview of the Iranian threat and 4-5 pages for the collection plan. Usually the best way to break down the paper is 3-4 pages of OSINT analysis on the Iranian Threat, then 4-5 pages for the collection plan. As long as
it’s at least 3 gaps and 6 requirements you’re good to go!

The idea of this assignment is that each step will build on itself. Through the OSINT analysis (only one we can really utilize since we don’t have access to classified) you will identify intelligence gaps, as in information you wanted to acquire but didn’t have. Once you have your gaps identified, you will create intelligence collection requirements that intelligence collectors from your assigned agencies will use to collect information to answer the requirements and close the gaps.

Short Scenario:

During a recent briefing, the Deputy DNI (Director of National Intelligence) for Intelligence Integration advised that the President informed his cabinet that he feared that the Government of Iran would join North Korea as a rogue nation with nuclear weapons capability.  He wanted to ensure that the IC was doing everything possible to prevent and counter the spread of WMDs, and that the United States Government was prepared to respond to any scenario involving the possibility of Iran possessing nuclear weapons.  The Director is meeting with the members of the IC and White House staff to update the IC (Intelligence Community) requirements for our national security.  In anticipation of this, the Deputy DNI has instructed you to prepare a draft collection plan that encompasses the entire IC and concentrates on the mission and asset management of the second (Determine Resource Availability and Capability) and third (Task Resources) stages of the collection plan.  He also asked that you perform a preliminary OSINT collection prior to tasking the IC along the 5 Disciplines of Intelligence Collection.  The Deputy DNI asked that you be specific in assessing the capabilities and tasking of the IC as it pertains to the Iranian capabilities.  He further advised that although the Department of Defense oversees multiple IC organizations, such as the Defense Intelligence Agency, the National Security Agency, the National Reconnaissance Organization, and the National Geospatial Intelligence Agency, you must task the specific agency.

Write a three to four-page essay, double-spaced, using Times New Roman 12-point text. This essay will allow you to make connections with the entire semester and see the value of learning history so that you can better understand the world today.

Prompt:

Consider to what extent the events of the 20th and 21st centuries are the result of ideas and events from the 17th, 18th, and 19th centuries. Put another way, with our studies complete, in this essay you should describe to what extent have the social, political, economic and cultural influences of the 17th, 18th, and 19th centuries had upon the last 120 years. Two examples: The Ottoman Conquest of southern central Europe (they were at Vienna’s doorstep as late as 1683) has influenced policies in present-day Europe, especially in Hungary, where leaders use that historic fear of Muslim occupation to justify anti-immigrant and anti-refugee policies.  The writings of Marx in the 1840s and 1850s had a direct influence on Vladimir Lenin, who established the Soviet Union in the 20th century. If you used sources please have a citation at the end of the essay.

Explain how the Western and non-communist European nations rebounded and rebuilt economically after the Second World War while, at the same time, relinquishing control of many of their colonies. How did relations change between nations in the 1950s and 60s? How did relations with colonies and former colonies change?

Your essay should be at least two pages in length and be double spaced in 12-point Times New Roman font. Outside sources are not required; however, when directly quoted or paraphrased works of others are used in any manner, the writer is obligated to properly cite the source of the original material.

This is a close looking essay
You will be provided a passage from Mansfield Park and two clips from two different film versions of Mansfield Park that translate the passage.

The close looking essay is not that different from a close reading essay. Except that it does establish what the original written text is before analyzing film versions, and its analyses use different kinds of evidence: instead of discussing word choices, verbal metaphors, sensory imagery created through language, a close looking assignment supports its interpretive claims with details of shot types, camera distances/angles, editing, mis-en-scene, and other aspects of a primarily visual medium that is also verbal and auditory.

The will essay use details to support a comparative analysis of the two versions of film

Needs to include:
1)List of screen versions you are comparing.

2)An introduction that includes a preview of your overall point and supporting points (i.e. a complete thesis statement).

3)A textual passage with title and chapter identification and a brief discussion (one long paragraph is okay) of its context, content, significance to the novel, and inherent challenges for film.

4)    A comparative analysis of how (not how welljust how) the two screen versions handle this passage, supported by the evidence you gathered in you storyboard as well as other things you noticed but maybe couldnt record. While you may have strong ideas on overall effects like tone or power dynamic, your arguments need to be tied to the specifics that get the job done: mis-en-scene; camera distance/angle/motion; editing; lighting; set design; etc. It is fine to include casting and/or acting/directing, but please do not rely on these as the core of your answer. In the case of some of the later versions (from 2007-8) you may notice that the later film seems to respond to not only the novel but also, an earlier film. Please note these echoes!

5)    A conclusion that comments on any further thoughts you have on the similarities and differences between the two film translations. Please dont feel you must decide which one is better, but if you would like to present your opinion, try to explain its grounding in both specific effects and your overall philosophy of novel-to-film adaptation/translation/interpretation.

Professional Advocacy through Association Membership

Professional advocacy is about supporting the interests of ones profession. Professional associations advocate for their members by uniting as a single voice and taking action to advance or remove barriers to the profession. Nurse practitioners (NPs) unite in member-created associations and organizations at many different levels: local, state, national, and international. They unite as specialty groups to further the goals or interests of their profession. Each of these organizations has a purpose or mission, membership benefits, and role in professional advocacy. While individually the NP may be able to contact a legislator on an issue of concern, a professional organization has the collective power of being able to be heard in numbers. These organizations are poised to take the course of action needed to influence the stakeholders. Just as these groups take action to make a change, individual NPs must take action to promote their own professional interests and causes. One of the best ways a professional can support their profession is by joining an association or organization.

Directions

In a 35 page paper address the following:

Join an NP association at the local, state, national or international level. (join as a student)
Discuss the mission and vision of this organization.
Describe the requirements for membership.
Explain at least five benefits of belonging to this organization.
Demonstrate understanding of the advocacy efforts of this organization by answering the following:
What are the current key issues of concern (name at least three)?
What actions are being taken by this organization to address these concerns?
What current legislative efforts are being done by this organization in one of the following areas:
expanding the NP scope of practice
NP regulation of the practice
Healthcare policy
Payment issues
Prescriptive privileges
Reflect on how your membership to this organization can promote the NP profession.
