Explain nutrition and describe what learning techniques you used to master the material.
Nutrition is the study of how our bodies digest and use biologically-important macromolecules. These are used to support growth, homeostasis, and tissue repair. Common nutrients include carbohydrates, lipids, proteins, vitamins and minerals. The metabolic rate of the body is how it consumes energy, and this can be affected by many factors, including age and level of activity and environment. One important effect of metabolism is that heat is given off as a waste product of the reaction, but this heat can be used to maintain a stable internal temperature within the body.

As one of the three cornerstone concepts of this course, the directional shift in human resource management to the increased reliance on quantitative measures of performance versus intuitive decisions based on aspiration, human capital metrics (also known as predictive analytics) is a subject for increased interest going forward. Scenario
Wheelies is a small family-owned scooter and bicycle rental business near the large tourist city of San Francisco, CA. Wheelies currently has 42 employees, most of whom are San Francisco residents. Currently, Wheelies promotes itself by having their employees hand out 20% discount coupons within a one mile radius of the store. Employees do this each morning for the three hours that the store is open. Additionally, Wheelies has a Facebook page (though it was last updated two months ago) that offers a two-for-one rental coupon to followers who share the post.
The biggest struggle for Wheelies is its competition with other local businesses to attract tourists. The owner of Wheelies has decided to invest in more modern marketing techniques in hopes of establishing a well-known presence in the community and gaining new customers who return to support the business year after year. This will require the owner to better understand the companys audiences and how best to market to them. To begin this process, they have reached out to the San Francisco Travel Association and the California Department of Finance for the most recent publicly available numerical data on the city’s tourists, which was gathered through city censuses and formal questionnaires. As these types of mistakes should be easily preventable, hospitals have developed protocols to lessen or extinguish the occurrence of these events. In addition, The Joint Commission (TJC) and the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) have developed core measures to guide health care providers efforts in improving patient safety and the quality of care delivered.
Health care organizations have developed strategic agendas to help meet these standards and reduce the incidence of Never Events. Nurses significantly influence the overall quality of health care provided and play a pivotal role in improving patient outcomes.
