One year after the Deepwater Horizon disaster you have become the new CEO of BP. You have been summoned before the board to present your detailed plans to change the companys culture and organizational design in both the short and long term. Please consider this assignment as a role-playing exercise. Remember that you are presenting to the board and not to me so do not reference the course in your presentation. Also, keep in mind that you are expected to speak knowledgeably about the disaster and its causes, but many of the people in leadership positions during the time of the disaster are the same people you are presenting to. Be confident, but respectful.

Your presentation will be made through VoiceThread and must be between 14 and 15 minutes in length. If you are unfamiliar with VoiceThread, please make the time to learn how to use the software before attempting the assignment. You will need to use your campus email to access VoiceThread. (FEMALE(american) VOICE ONLY, If can not complete voice thread just create a presentation / speech that goes with the presentation and can be read off of for the presentation)

Also, the limited time range is a reminder to you to be respectful of the time allocated to you by the board. Be sure to make productive use of your presentation time. Rehearse, rehearse, and rehearse again. Use video, audio, and appropriate graphics to create a presentation as engaging, professional and robust as possible within the role-playing scenario.

Be sure to share the link to the presentation with me as part of the VoiceThread submission process. If I cannot access it, I cannot grade it. This is a challenging assignment as it requires you to apply the knowledge you acquired from the course material. This is a very important assignment and has a high point value. Please make this your best work!

Assignment: Legislation Grid and Testimony/Advocacy Statement

As a nurse, how often have you thought to yourself, If I had anything to do about it, things would work a little differently? Increasingly, nurses are beginning to realize that they do, in fact, have a role and a voice.
Many nurses encounter daily experiences that motivate them to take on an advocacy role in hopes of impacting policies, laws, or regulations that impact healthcare issues of interest. Of course, doing so means entering the less familiar world of policy and politics. While many nurses do not initially feel prepared to operate in this space effectively, the reward is the opportunity to shape and influence future health policy.

ARTICLE CRITIQUE ASSIGNMENT

________________________________________________________

Instructor: Noah Neaman                                  Winter Semester, 2021

Course: 3362 – 001

What is a critique?

A critique is a type of academic writing that summarizes and critically evaluates a work in this case a journal article.  Like an essay, a critique uses a formal, academic writing style and has a clear structure that includes an introduction, body and conclusion.  The body of the critique includes a summary of the article and an evaluation of it.  The purpose of an evaluation is to gauge the usefulness or impact of a work in a particular field.

How to write a critique

Before you start writing, it is important to have an understanding of the work to be critiqued by doing the following:

Study the article
Make notes on key parts of the work
Develop an understanding of the main argument/purpose being expressed in the article

Introduction

Typically, the introduction is short (less than 10% of the word length) and you should:

Name the work being reviewed
Describe the main argument/purpose of the work
Have a concluding sentence that indicates what your evaluation of the work will be.  For instance, it may indicate whether it is a positive, negative, or mixed reaction.

Summary

Briefly summarize the main points .  This summary should not be the focus of the critique and is usually shorter than the critical evaluation.

Critical Evaluation

This section should give an assessment of the different elements of the work, evaluating how well the author was able to achieve the purpose through these.  Examples of key questions that could help your assessment include the following:

Is the title of the article appropriate and clear?
Is the purpose of the article made clear in the introduction?
What are the aims of the work?  Were the aims achieved?
What type of evidence does the author use to make his/her points?  Has the evidence been presented fairly?
Does the work enhance understanding of key ideas?
Are the authors statements clear?

Note:  You are not required to answer all these questions you may choose to answer the ones that you feel are relevant etc.

This evaluation is written in formal academic style and logically presented.  Group and order your ideas into paragraphs.  You may wish to discuss the strengths of the article, and then the weaknesses.  You may quote from the article and use APA style for citations.  You may cite other sources but I am not requiring this.

Conclusion

This is typically a very brief paragraph, which includes:

A statement indicating the overall evaluation of the work
A summary of your evaluation
In some circumstances, recommendations for improvement on the work

Reference List

Include the article and any sources you use outside the article.  You may have outside sources.  Use APA style.

First Respond
Reading both the peer review article and the popular media article, both want to convey around the same message. But the peer review article was more structured and well organized. The article had charts that were labeled, cited their work. They had detailed summary of the information that they were giving. As to the popular media article did not have detailed information, just given numbers and citations on where these number came from. One major point I wound ensure was communicated accurately to the general audience is the basis information that is not given. The information that people would have to search for. I would made sure it is a small excerpt stating that provided if the reader wanted to research it more. Basis is why it is important to refer to empirical studied when there are claims in poplar media. The reader is able to see, search and find an opposing angel to the story. The concept of psychological studies in the media apply to Ethics. It is also the writers ethical responsibility to publish facts that are truthful and are scientifically proven but the does not always happen. So it is the readers ethical responsibility to research the information that the are given and not take it a face value.

Remember to respond to two peers while being respectful of and sensitive to their viewpoints. Consider advancing the discussion in the following ways:

Post an article, video, or additional research to reinforce a peers idea or challenge them to see their point from a different perspective.
Engage in conversation with your peers around the concept of psychological studies in the media.

Second Respond
The first peer-reviewed journal article described in the abstract what the study was pursuing and how it does not conclude the hypothesis. The journal article is specifically researching acute tryptophan depletions stopped the punishmentinducing inhibition and had no impact on the overall motor response. The Journalists summary claimed to increase serotonin by eating cheese, with data that assumes or links this by correlation.

In a peer-reviewed journal article, avoiding oversights like in a media clickbait article is important. To do this, the researchers will need to state the clear hypothesis both the independent and dependent variables, the study should also include the method and conclusion determining the confounding variables.

The media consistently is creating clickbait titles and entertaining posts for the average person to assume conclusions. If a media post is not supported by research or observational experiments, using methods and results then it is not a valid study or claim.

This concept of psychological studies in media would apply to the ethics course theme. There should be formal ethics or laws in place with the media portraying correlations as true. Although, the media could argue the freedom of the press. I do think the claims are harmful to individuals that dont look for further research and take the media claims as valid. This could result In harmful information rather than helpful.

Hi! I need an essay about Hamlet’s seven soliloquies. About how do they reveal/show his character. I have attached my notes and the rubric in PDFs. The notes should be very helpful so please look at them. Look thoroughly at the rubric before writing the essay.  Also, remember to cite as noted: O, my offense is rank, it smells to heaven;/ It hath the primal eldest curse upon t” (Hamlet III.iii). Use slash marks to signify the end of a line, and use roman numerals for the parentheses. Capital numerals for acts and lowercase for scenes.
Please, please, I need a very good essay, do your best! This is crucial for my grade. Thank you!
